Robert aÌâÅBobbyaÌâ Scott Rothe, 45, passed away Tuesday, May 4th 2010.
A lifelong resident of the coast, Bobby was born December 22nd, 1964, in Camden, New Jersey. His family moved to Long Beach in 1969. After attending Long Beach schools, he took a course in machining at Jeff Davis, Jr. College. Acquiring the tools of the trade, he moved to Dallas, Texas, where he went to work for the Dallas Morning News. In 1997, Bobby returned to the coast to be near family, friends and with Gail, his partner in life, laughter and love. He continued his career as a Pressman at the Sun Herald.
Bobby celebrated life to the fullest. His warm smile and welcoming personality were the perfect compliment to his kind and loving heart. A lover of the arts, Bobby gave his time to help with many arts events on the coast, and could be met at many coast exhibitions with Gail. His love for Mardi Gras found him the member of two Krewes on the Coast, the Krewe of Double Trouble and the Krewe of Odysseus, for which he served as King Odysseus the 9th. He was member of St. PeteraÌââ¢s by the Sea, Episcopal Church, Gulfport. Bobby was an avid builder. After repairing his home after Katrina and building a workshop by hand in his backyard, he was never shy to lend a helping hand with any building project. Fishing, cooking, disc golf and Saints football were but a few more of BobbyaÌââ¢s loves. His passion for life was evident to everyone he met.
Bobby is survived by his long time companion, Gail Hendrickson; his father, Bobby Joe Rothe, of Long Beach; two brothers, Michael (Joy) Rothe, San Diego, CA, and Neil Rothe, Long Beach; two sisters, Mary Jean Rothe, Dallas, TX, and Barbara (CJ) Hale, Long Beach; three nephews, Josh, Patrick and Kevin Rothe, and one niece, Leah Rothe; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Jean Murphy Rothe, and niece Michael Rothe.
