Robert William Ripp was born October 11, 1932, to Julius Marvin and Aletha Burlette Ripp. He graduated High School in 1950 and later that year enlisted in the Louisiana National Guard. In April 1953 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, and after 26 years of service he retired with the rank of Captain. He went on to work for Gulf Alliance and retired ten years later.
As a child in Louisiana, he enjoyed fishing in the Gulf of Mexico, and while in the service he always had his fishing pole with him, allowing him to pursue his love of fishing in California in the waters of the Pacific Ocean, in the lakes and rivers of Arkansas, off the coast of South Carolina in the Atlantic Ocean, and even in the waters surrounding Okinawa, Japan. He was able to continue to enjoy being on the water once he moved to Mississippi and bought a shrimp boat.
He will be sorely missed and fondly remembered by all who have known him.
