Robert Lee Reed III, age 72, of Long Beach, passed away on March 9, 2021.
He was preceded in death by his father, long time local politician Robert Lee Reed, Jr; his mother, Lenora LaRosa Reed; and his beautiful twin sisters, Ida Bovee Gates and Carol Lee Willard.
Robert is survived by his wife of 37 years, Shelley Knapp Reed; his son, Robert Lee Reed IV; his brothers, Richard J. (Diane) Reed, Frank V. (Sue) Reed, George B. Reed, Lt Col Jay F. (Julia) Reed, Thomas C. Reed, and Paul E. Reed; his grandchildren, Robert "Hunter" Reed V, Chase D. Reed, Aiden J.M. Reed, Liam P. Reed and their mother, Valerie Rose Lewis Reed); and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Robert was a lifelong resident of Long Beach and was a faithful member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church where he served as an usher for the 7:30 am Sunday mass. He served honorably in the United States Marine Corps where he served tours in Vietnam and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. He later worked for Dixie Glass in Gulfport and with the Civil Engineering Squadron at Keesler AFB. He was a devoted fan of the Green Bay Packers and the New Orleans Saints. He loved Crusin the Coast in his 1973 El Camino, Gulf Coast Fantasy Racing, and hanging out in his "man cave" with his best friend, Spunky Ray.
Robert never met a stranger! If you didn't have a smile on your face when you met with him - you would have one when you left!
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be made to St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 720 E. Beach Blvd, Long Beach, MS 39560.
A Mass of Christian Burial will e celebrated at 11 am Saturday, March 20, 2021, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church where friends are invited to visit from 9:30 am - 11 am.
A private interment will take place in the Biloxi National Cemetery.
