Robert Olsen

Robert G. Olsen, age 77 of Gulfport, passed away on Monday, December 13, 2021.

Robert was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Allport Berndt; his father, James Olsen; his brothers, Buster, Joey, and Michael; and his mother-in-law, Rosemary White.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Linda M. Olsen; his children, Brent Robert Olsen (Terri), Michele Olsen, and Kenny Olsen (Gayle); his grandchildren, Cindy Olsen Martinez (Antonio), Danica Olsen, Chelsia Olsen, Katelyn Olsen, Crystal Pankratz; and his great grandchildren, Ellie Martinez and Christopher Pankratz.

He was a native of Round Lake, Illinois and graduated from Round Lake High School.  He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and retired after 27 years in the field of anti-submarine warfare.   He was a data analyst in South Carolina, and handled computer training as GS9 in California and Nevada.  He received many service medals and ribbons.  After retiring from the Navy, he worked security at 3 coast casinos.

Robert was a heavy gamer and loved to tell corny jokes.

A special thank you to my sister, Melanie for supporting Bob and I, Jane for all the help she has provided after Bob’s passing.  Also, a special thank you to Robert’s friend, Jim for being a faithful friend.  Thanks for Brent, his son for being a caring individual with getting Bob a car, caring for his mother, and keeping in touch.
