Robert Allen Oehmichen

Robert Allen Oehmichen, a former resident of Hattiesburg, MS, at age 89 made the journey to be with his Father God on Sunday, October 13, 2024, after a brief illness at the Claiborne in Gulfport, MS.

He was born on July 26, 1935, and raised in New Orleans, LA. He attended Warren Easton High School and graduated in the class of 1954. He earned a Structural Engineering AS degree from International Correspondence Schools, Communication Electronics AS degree from National Radio Institute, and held an Extra Class Amateur Radio license from the FCC. 

Mr. Oehmichen was a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church in Hattiesburg. He was an active member of several United Methodist Churches having served in various committees, boards, choirs, and attended the Louisiana United Methodist Cursillo #23 Retreat program. He served for 8 years in the U.S. Naval Reserve, and subsequently worked for 37 years with Avondale Industries, Shipyards Division in New Orleans, LA, before retiring as Assistant Vice President and Manager of Production Engineering in 1999.

Mr. Oehmichen was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Audrey Scotton Oehmichen, whom passed away on September 18, 2024. Also preceding him in death are his sister, Warreen Oehmichen Lipps; his mother, Myrtle Jannette Bayer Oehmichen; and his father, Fernand Joseph Oehmichen, all of New Orleans.

Mr. Oehmichen is survived by his son, Mark Robert Oehmichen & his wife Terri Long Oehmichen of Long Beach, MS; his daughter, Michelle Oehmichen Clark & her husband LTC Christopher Clark (Ret.) of Warrenton, VA; his 6 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 1 nephew, and a host of other loving family members and friends.

Mr. Oehmichen will be laid to rest privately, next to his wife, at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Gulfport, MS. Riemann Family Funeral Home, Gulfport, is serving the family. The online guestbook may be signed, and memories & photos shared at www.riemannfamily.com
