Robert W. Norris

Robert W. Norris, age 80, of Lucedale, passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2011 in Perkinston.
Mr. Norris was born July 25, 1930, in Sussex County, VA, to Lee Berry and Annie Britt Norris. He was a graduate of Isle of Wight High School. In 1950 he joined the National Guard of Virginia then enlisted in the USAF later that year. He retired from USAF in 1970 as an Aircraft Maintenance Technical Sergeant. Then he began his career in the U.S. Civil Service working in carpentry/ac maintenance until his retirement in 1994. During his military service he received the Air Medal for Meritorious Service USAF and many other medals. He proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. Mr. Norris was a resident of the MS Gulf Coast for forty years, and was a committed Christian who was a faithful servant of the Lord. He was actively involved in Community Theatre, Civic Chorus, Lighthouse Full Gospel Fellowship, and Cedar Lake Christian Assembly.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Becky S. Norris; parents Lee and Annie Norris; and brother Moss Norris.
Survivors include his children, Mark Norris (Cathy) of Vicksburg, Dana Norris Nelson (Darwin) of Lucedale, and Nancy Norris Barrett (Brad) of Wiggins; two sisters, Eloise Watkins and Blanche Knox, both of Virginia; three brothers, Raymond Norris of Virginia, Melvin Norris of Virginia, and Franklin Norris of North Carolina; and seven grandchildren, Michael Norris, Lucy Norris, Brett Nelson, Rory Nelson, Justin Barrett, Alyssa Barrett, and Ryan Barrett.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 20, 2011 from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm, with the funeral service starting at 1:30 pm at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Rd, Gulfport, MS. Burial will follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Lucedale with full military honors.
Pallbearers will be Darwin Nelson, Brett Nelson, Rory Nelson, Brad Barrett, Justin Barrett, and Ryan Barrett.
