The beautiful soul of Robert ""Bobby"" Mullins lept with joy from this life into Heaven Saturday morning, June 18, 2016 at the age of 50. One of God's children, he is now blessed with the voices of angels.
Bobby had a gift of touching the hearts of those who knew him. Always there to listen, to help when needed, he put other people's needs above his own. He worked hard at everything he did, always giving so much more than was required. It was not enough for him to be an adequate husband, father, friend or employee. When Bobby was in your corner, there was nothing you couldn't do.
Bobby spent his last year making as many memories as he could with his family. Given only months to live, his persistence saw him reach - and pass - a milestone year mark. It was the perfect example of his tenacity and strength. He especially loved the precious moments he had with his grandchildren, and reconnecting with old friends who had meant so much to him. Though the past year has been difficult, there were many blessings for Bobby. He left this life filled with love for his family, his friends, and Jesus Christ.
Bobby was also known for a sharp sense of humor, someone who loved to jump out and scare you just when you rounded a corner. Playful, he drew much joy from making those around him happy. He lived to see smiles. The impression he made on the hearts of those who loved him is deep, and the loss will be felt for a very long time to come.
Bobby was born in Goshen, Indiana, on December 5, 1965 to LaVina Christner, and raised by both her and his precious step father Vernon. He graduated from Fairfield High School in 1984, and joined the United States Air Force. Serving six years, he earned numerous awards including the Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, and the Korea Defense Service Medal. After meeting who would be his ""honey"", Ellen Rene' Gautier Mullins in Biloxi, he was honorably discharged and settled on the Gulf Coast.
He worked 26 years in various aspects of management and sales. He also helped found The Healing Heart Mission, as well as Biloxi Roller Derby where he served as both a referee and then a coach. He was also co-owner of Bardic Winds, LLC. He spent much of his time cooking wonderful meals, fishing, and laughing with family and friends. Bobby's one regret, he said, was in not teaching his beloved companion Jaxx to be a cancer detection dog.
Bobby leaves behind his wife of 25 years, ReneÌ, his children, Jacob Mullins (Janessa Card), Ceann Lewis (Jamie), grandson Grayson Huson-Mullins, granddaughter River Lewis; parents LaVina and Vernon Christner; his much loved brother, Ron Mullins, and sister-in-law Donna; step sister Charlotte Miller (Dave); brother-in-law Richard Graber; father-in-law James Gautier; sister's-in-law Michelle Lawrence (Carl) and Cathy Gautier; and many treasured aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Chris and Lizzie Ann Miller; Clifford and Edna Mullins; his step sisters Doris Graber and Cheryl (Corky) McBride; his mother-in-law Ellen Hooper; and his father, Ellis Mullins.
The family is very appreciative of all the love and support for both Bobby during his illness, and the family during his passing. We especially would like to thank Pastor James Garnett and his wife Ellen, who have been with us every step of the way; the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd; caretaker Brenda Robinson; Linda Spiers Bock; Mac and Cindy McNelley; Dr. James Gatewood, Sarah, and staff; and Debra Thomas, RN of Deaconess Hospice. There are too many more to name, but we love you all.
