Robert John Mahalak, age 82 of Long Beach, passed away Monday, November 19, 2018.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank John Mahalak and Cecelia Przybylski; his wife, Bonnie J. Mahalak; his brothers, Frank J. Mahalak, Jr., Warren L. Mahalak, Richard Mahalak, Joseph Mahalak; and his sisters, Margaret and Patricia.
Robert is survived by his children, Joanne, Robert, Robert, Leisa, Kenny and Robon; his step-children, Laurie, Randy and Eric; his brother, Eugene L. Mahalak; his grandchildren, Stephanie and Josh; his great grandchild, Lilly; and his sister-in-law; Doris Mahalak.
While working at A&P, he moved up the ranks to become butcher and meat manager. Over the years, he also owned several small businesses, such as Bonnie's Ceramic Store and Bob-N-Bon's Sandwich Shop. Robert also managed several convenience stores.
Robert was an avid golfer, enjoyed fresh and salt water fishing, and loved watching sports, especially football. He had a passion for cooking, barbecuing, and watching cooking shows. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Long Beach.
If you ask anyone who knew him, they would say "Bob was a unique guy". He could be extremely stubborn, bull-headed and tough, but on the other hand, Bob would give you the shirt off of his back if you needed it.
