Mr. Robert Anthony Legere, Sr., age 76, of Diamondhead, MS, passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2011.
Mr. Legere was born in Beals Island, Maine to Ernest H. and Ann Marie Ayotte Legere. He graduated from Maine Maritime Academy and served in the U.S. Navy. He met and married the love of his life in San Francisco, Karly Kristjonsdittor, his Icelandic princess. They moved to New Jersey, where Mr. Legere worked for the New York Shipyard before moving to New Orleans to work for Bethlehem Steel. He later worked for Waterford III Nuclear Plant in Taft, LA, where he was head engineer. He retired from Entergy in the early 90's to be build his family's retirement home in Diamondhead.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Karly; his parents; infant son; and a brother, Ernest Legere.
He is survived by his children, Robert A. Legere, Jr. of Diamondhead, Renee S. Harris of Bay St. Louis, and Michele M. Legere of Diamondhead; sisters, Lorraine Smith and Marcella Harris; grandchildren, Brittney A. Goodwin, Robert A. Legere, III, Roxanne A. Legere, and Karl J. Legere.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2011, at Lutheran Church of the Pines, Waveland, MS, at 1:00 p.m. Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until service time.
