Robert Leighton Van Huss, 79 of Biloxi passed away Friday April 17, 2015 surrounded by his family.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father and awesome Papaw. Mr. Van Huss was born in Abingdon, VA but had spent the last 35 years of his life in Biloxi. After proudly serving in the USAF for 28 years, he chose to call Biloxi his home. After a short-lived ""retirement"", and obtaining his Associates Degree, he re-entered the workforce at MGCCC - Jefferson Davis Campus in the Maintenance department for 11 years before retiring yet again. He enjoyed outings with his family, especially spending as much time as possible with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his childhood sweetheart Ola Jean Van Huss to whom he was married for 48 years; his parents John R. Van Huss and Lettie M. Van Huss; five brothers, James, John, Charles, Ralph and Paul; three sisters, Marie, Ella Mae, and Bonnie Jean.
He is survived by his two daughters, Robin Van Huss Weise (Glenn), Rhonda Van Huss Cook (Dean); four grandchildren whom he truly adored Trevor and Carly Weise and Ryan and Rebecca Cook all of Woolmarket, MS; two brothers, Dee (Brenda) Van Huss and Gary Van Huss; three sisters, Linda (Louie) Anderson, Doris (Oliver) Yarber and Janet (Herb) McClelland; and a loving extended family and many friends.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the many doctors, nurses, and caregivers who cared for our Daddy throughout the years.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 until the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, April 24 at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Road in Biloxi. Burial with military honors will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery. Online tributes may be offered at www.riemannfmaily.com
