Mr. Robert Allen Gray, age 72, resident of Wiggins, MS and Laona, WI, passed away on Sunday, December 12, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Mr. Gray was born in Woodville, FL to Simon Peter and Ruby Shields Gray. He joined the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He attended St. Petersburg College in St. Petersburg, FL. After college, he worked for Western Electric in Winston Salem, NC as a technical writer. He then went to work for Siemens Corporation in Boca Raton, FL also as a technical writer. He sang in the Chancel and Concert Series at Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and he served on the Board of Directors for 16 years for Music Mission Kiev. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Wiggins, and he served as a Deacon for Praise Chapel in Crandon, WI. He was known for playing his guitar and singing. He loved fishing and building, but his heart belonged to his 9 grandchildren. He had a deep, personal relationship with the Lord.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bennie Lee Gray.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Carole Gray of Wiggins, MS; his son, Robert Allen Gray, II (Edith) of Garland, TX; his daughter, Deborah Lee Gray Hale (Chris) of Ashville, AL; mother, Tena Gray of Wiggins, MS; his brothers, Simon Frederick Gray of Gainesville, FL, Jim Gray of Wellington, FL; and his sister, Linda Mohr of Vancleave, MS.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 16, 2010, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Road, Biloxi, where friends may visit from 9 am-10:45 am.
Graveside services will be held at 11 am at Biloxi National Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Music Mission Kiev, 286 Wilshire Boulevard, Casselberry, Florida 32707.
