Robert Douglas

Robert “Bob” L. Douglas went to the Lord December 25, 2020. Born in Corpus Christi, Texas March 12, 1936, Bob lived most of his live in Arkansas and Mississippi with a few years in Houston, Texas.

Bob is survived by his wife Reta; son Bobby Douglas (Susan); daughter, Jenny Mundie (Tom); grandchildren, Christina Bullman (David), Vanessa Lunsford (Jason), Brent Mundie (Laura), April Click (Andrew), Jason Mundie (Megan), Lacey Roux (Tyler), Jennifer Crews (Justin), and Molly Gipson; eleven great-grands and a host of nieces and nephews.

Bob’s priorities were God, family, and country. A member of the Church of Christ, he served as a teacher, deacon, and elder. A quiet leader, Bob set a Christian example as a husband, dad, and granddad. He went quietly about the Lord’s work without fanfare. As well as a spiritual leader, Bob was a leader in all that he participated in, including serving as President of the Jaycees and Lion’s club. After retirement, he and Reta worked with the Sojourners, a Church of Christ missions.

Bob served in the Air Force for four years. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Mississippi and a Master of Science degree from the University of Houston.

While in Houston, he worked for Texaco Research Lab and for NASA during the days of the Apollo space missions. Part of his responsibilities lay in the administration’s communication systems and working on the Lunar Module. Later, he also worked in the ship building business.

After many years in industry, he changed career paths to education. He taught computer engineering technology at the University of Memphis for twenty years. After retiring from the university, he went to Harding University for a year to help start a computer engineering program there.

Services are pending and a celebration of his life will be later.
