Robert Joseph """"Seabee Mac"""" McCummins, Sr., age 70, of Pass Christian, died on Thursday, July 23, 2009.
Born November 17, 1938 in New Castle, PA to the late Leo McCummins and the late Grace Cavender McCummins. Mr. McCummins served in the U.S. Army, then later retired from the U.S. Navy Seabees, having served in Vietnam. He then retired after 20 years from the Biloxi VA.
Mr. McCummins was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Dedeaux. He was a life member and past Post Commander of VFW Post 4526, Orange Grove-Gulfport; Cooties-PT 02, Gulfport; life member, DAV-Chapter 5, Gulfport; Orange Grove Blue Lodge #635; Scottish Rite (Clown Unit); and was a volunteer bell ringer for the Salvation Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Dorothy Bradley (West Pittsburg, PA), Peggy Million (New Castle, PA) and Patricia Carbon (Edenburgh, PA); and his brothers, Dick McCummins (New Castle, PA) and Leo McCummins (Las Vegas, NV).
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Doris Willey McCummins; daughter, Jeanne Lizana (Matt); son, Robert J. McCummins, Jr. (Christine); five grandchildren who were the pride of his life, Kristin Lizana (Jeremy), Matthew Lizana, Katie McCummins, Shannon McCummins and Brenna McCummins; sister-in-law, Margie Willey; sisters, Sally Canalejo (Don) of Pembrook, FL and Mary McCummins of New Castle, PA; and by 18 nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National VFW Home.
Visiation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Road, Biloxi. Burial with military honors will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
