Mr. Robert M. Compton, age 68, resident of Gulfport, passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2008, in Gulfport.
He was born in Lebanon, TN, and had been a Coast resident most of his life. He was the owner of Toby's Neon and Plastic Signs, Inc. in Gulfport, was an officer in the Gulfport Jaycee's, member of Gulfport Yacht Club, and the Elks Club. He enjoyed fishing, sailing, and skiing. He enjoyed building and flying model airplanes, as well as woodworking.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Ellen Compton; brother, Fred Compton, Jr.; and sisters, Martha Jean Sheffield and Barbara Compton.
He is survived by daughter, Elise Compton Dubuisson of Gulfport; sisters, Dorothy Gilbert and Betty Jo Oelke of WA; brother, Thomas Compton of Saucier; grandson, Noah Dubuisson; and his beloved pet, Blossom.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 11, 2008, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Rd., Gulfport, where friends may call from 12:30-2pm. A funeral procession will leave at 2pm in route to Floral Hills Cemetery for a graveside service at 2:15 pm.
