Robert E. Clark, of Gulfport, Mississippi, passed away on November 2, 2020 at the age of 67 following a valiant battle with COVID-19.
Robert was born in Gulfport to the late Julia G. Clark and Otis S. Clark on March 25, 1953. After high school, he served a three-year enlistment in the United States Marine Corps from 1970 to 1972. While in the USMC, Robert was assigned to the 4th AmTrac Battalion, also in Gulfport, earning the National Defense Service Medal. He received an Honorable discharge upon the completion of his service to our nation. After military service, Robert worked as an offshore captain until his retirement.
He loved the water, especially boating and fishing. Robert enjoyed being around people and he never met a stranger. He always tried to find humor in the situation and loved telling jokes that made people laugh. He was a lifelong fan of car shows, NASCAR, Ole Miss football, and the New Orleans Saints.
Robert is survived by his only child, Erica Clark Molnar, her husband Art Molnar, and three granddaughters, Audrey, Alaina, and Addison Molnar. He is also survived by a nephew, Malcolm Clark. He was known by many nicknames over the years, Bob, Bobby and Captain Bob, but the name he was most proud of was the one his granddaughters gave him: PawPaw.
It is clear that Bob was widely loved by many. Since his death, people have sent messages and condolences from all over. Bob touched so many lives and the outpouring of love and memories so many had for him means everything to his family during this time. Bob was kind, gentle, thoughtful, and full of life. His charming wit, beaming smile and undeniable love and pride will be forever missed by his family, friends and beloved Cat, Bobcat.
Visitation will be Monday, November 9, 2020 from 4 pm to 6 pm at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, location on Three Rivers Road. He will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at the Biloxi National Cemetery on Tuesday, November 10.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Semper Fi and America’s Fund (semperfifund.org) or the Humane Society of South Mississippi. Please be mindful that masks and social distancing will be required at both events.
