Mr. Robert Nathaniel ""Pops"" Chambers, age 84, passed away Friday, September 7, 2012 at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport.
Mr. Chambers was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, retiring from Montauk Coast Guard Station in October 1971 as a Chief Petty Officer. He had been a resident of Gulfport since his retirement from the Coast Guard. Mr. Chambers was a member of the American Legion Post #119.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Grace Raymond Chambers; parents, Lisle and Clara Chambers; and three daughters, Stella Lynn Chambers, Debra Swanger and Denise L. Chambers; brother, L. Wayne Chambers; and sister, Marian Millstead.
Survivors include his daughter, Donna Estep (Sam) of Gulfport; son, Denny Chambers of Woolmarket; son-in-law, Raymond Swanger; sister, Nadine Burgoone of Indiana; five grandchildren, Dwayne Velderman, Daniel Velderman (Kim), Raymond Swanger II, Franklin""Franky"" Estep and Tyler Chambers; five great-grandchildren, Makala, Cameron, Reed & Devin Velderman and Kaylee Estep.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until 12 Noon on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road in Gulfport, with the Funeral Service beginning at 12 Noon. Burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery with military honors.
