M/Sgt. Robert Francis """"Bob"""" Burns, USAF, Ret., age 64 and a resident of Gulfport, died October 21, 2007, in Biloxi.
Mr. Burns was born July 5, 1943, in Brooklyn, New York, and was a long-time resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
He retired after 20 years in the U. S. Air Force and served in Vietnam. He also retired after 19 years of civil service at Keesler Air Force Base. He received the Sustained Superior Performance Award from September 1987 to July 2005, and was presented the Command Civilian Award for Valor in July 2001 for saving the life of a fellow employee.
Mr. Burns was a Catholic and was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge 332, since 1984. He was a life-time member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and was a member of the American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans.
Mr. Burns was preceded in death by his mother, Emma Burns, father, Thomas Burns, and brother, Thomas Burns, Jr.
Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Micheline L. Burns; daughters, Angela L. Barkman and husband, Kelly; Chrystal A. Meyers and husband, Michael; and Anna L. Rimanich and husband, David; grandchildren, Brandon, Nikki, JoJo, and Bryan Barkman, Kirsten, Lauren, and Michael Meyers, Jr.; and sisters, Kathy Adriano and MaryEllen Burns.
Visitation will be at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Road in Biloxi on Friday, October 26, 2007, from 11:30 a.m. until the service at 12:30 p.m. Burial with full military honors will be in the National Cemetery in Biloxi.
