Robert A. "Bob" Tenan, age 80, passed away peacefully at his home in Gulfport, MS on May 17, 2023. He was diagnosed with Leukemia in January and despite his valiant efforts, he succumbed to the illness.
Bob was born on August 12, 1942, in Maine. He was a loving husband of 55 years to his wife Rebecca Tweedie Tenan, and a devoted father to his children, Shelly and Brandon. He was also a proud grandfather to Sean, Brian, Brooke, Gabrielle, her husband Jay Bosworth, Brianna, and her partner Tyler.
Bob was a man of many talents and interests. He was able to retire at the age of 55, which gave him and his wife the opportunity to travel in their RV for twelve years before settling in Gulfport, MS. Bob was always eager to give back to his community and was involved in various organizations such as the Jaycees, the summer special Olympics at Colby College, and volunteered at Blue Hill Hospital in Maine and Garden Park in Gulfport. He also organized an HOA in his community.
Bob enjoyed spending his summers at his place in Castine, Maine, and was very proud of his children and grandchildren. He was blessed with wonderful, caring friends and neighbors both near and far.
In lieu of a service, Bob requested that donations be made to Tired Dog Rescue, (a special dog rescue group) at PO Box 10751 Gulfport, MS 39505. Bob always had dogs no matter where he lived or traveled, and he wanted to ensure that other dogs could find loving homes as well.
Bob will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. His legacy of kindness, generosity, and compassion will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
Riemann Family Funeral Home, Gulfport served the family.
