Robert “Bob” Eugene Hendricks, 76 of Gulfport passed away on October 23, 2024, at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport. He was born on March 22, 1948, in Miami, FL to the late Gene & Patricia Hendricks. Bob is preceded in death by his parents; and his loving wife of over 50 years Alicia Hendricks.
Bob was born in Miami but raised his entire life in New Jersey. He joined the United States Army in 1968 and served on a Gun Boat in the Rivers in Vietnam. After, serving in the United States Army, Bob came back to the States and settled back in New Jersey. This is where he met Alicia, and they were married on November 24, 1973. Bob then moved the family to the Mississippi Gulf Coast in 1983 and worked a variety of jobs. Bob had a degree in Ornamental Horticulture and Education. He later retired as a Security Guard.
Bob had a love for animals, and helped raise so many different animals and pets. He also loved being in the outdoors going boating and fishing. Bob was big into woodworking and made several decoys and shore birds for decorations. He was a handy man and jack of all of trades, loved building things and working on projects, some of which were never completed. Bob had a funny side, and always was the jokester of the family. Bob was a loving and devoted, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to so many. His legacy lives on in all of us, and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Bob is survived by his loving children, Trevor Hendricks, Kristin (Robert) Clark, and Laura (Travis) Smith; grandchildren, Brielle Rose-Hendricks, Kristina Mathews, Tia Doughty, Nora Doughty, Tiera Doughty, Anastasia Burton, Dakota Clark, Ashley Hanson, Natalee Hanson, Conner Hanson, Linnie Smith, Charles Smith, Christopher Smith, and Shawna Smith; great grandson, Spencer Mathews; siblings, Steve Hendricks, Patricia Cox, and Gary Hendricks; and lifetime friend Glenn Rishton. Bob also leaves behind to cherish his memory a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at his daughter’s home (18254 Old Highway 49, Saucier, MS) on Saturday, November 9, 2024.
