Mr. Richard (Dick) Schultz, age 84, longtime resident of Saucier and Gulfport, died on Sunday, January 17, 2010.
He was a US Navy WWII veteran of the Pacific War. Dick was a radio and television personality for WLOX in the 50's and 60's. He was broadcasting live when Hurrican Camille hit the Gulf Coast in 1969. He later joined the Harrison County Sheriff's Department, retiring as a detective. Many will remember him for his sarcasm and wit in his """"Letters to the Editor"""" in the Sun Herald.
He is survived by his sons, Terry Schultz (Debbie) and Rick Schultz, and his daughter, Frieda Newsome. He also leaves behind his 6 grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2010, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, at 1:30 p.m. Friends may visit one hour prior to service. Burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
