Richard Van Nguyen - A loving husband, dedicated father, and proud American, passed away peacefully, at home with his wife and children, October 16, 2023, age 71.
He was a commercial fisherman for many years prior to his retirement.
Born on December 11, 1951, in Vietnam, Richard lived a life filled with love and laughter.
Those who were fortunate enough to know Richard understood that he had a special talent for bringing smiles to people's faces. With his quick wit and playful nature, he was quite the jokester. Richard's affinity for making those around him laugh brought joy and happiness to countless lives. His light-hearted spirit will remain in the hearts of all those who shared in his laughter.
Beyond his humor, Richard had a vibrant zest for life and always found reasons to celebrate. He particularly loved gathering together with loved ones during the holidays to create lasting memories. Richard also enjoyed testing his luck at the casino from time to time, adding an element of excitement to his life.
In addition to his passions, Richard had an array of hobbies that enriched his life. He loved indulging in delicious food, exploring new travel destinations, watching football, and the gym. Gardening allowed him to connect with nature while nurturing beautiful plants. Richard had a deep affection for animals and valued staying updated with current world news.
A devout Buddhist, Richard spent most days praying for world peace and for the well-being of his beloved family. His spirituality provided him with solace and guided him throughout his journey in life.
Richard's proudest accomplishments revolved around his family. He cherished being a husband and counted himself lucky to have Kim D. Tran as soulmate throughout their married life, of over 41 years. Together they built a strong foundation of love and support.
Being a father filled Richard's heart with immeasurable joy. Mary Nguyen, Lory Nguyen, Terry Nguyen, and Kerry Nguyen were the center of his universe. He poured his love into their lives, supporting and guiding them every step of the way. Richard's legacy of love will forever live on through his children.
Richard also leaves behind his siblings here in the US, his sisters, Hai and Family, Hong and family, and Tai's Family, as well as other cherished relatives still residing in Vietnam. His memory will be cherished by all those who were fortunate to have known him.
Richard's passing leaves a void in the lives of his immediate family, but they take comfort in knowing that he is reunited with his parents, Bien Van Nguyen (father) and Hoa Thi Phan (mother), who preceded him in death.
During this time of grief and loss, may we hold onto the beautiful memories shared with Richard Van Nguyen. He will forever be remembered for his laughter, his love for family, and his unwavering spirit.
