Judge Richard ""Dick"" Mills, age 79, of Diamondhead, passed away on December 10, 2011 in Diamondhead.
He was born in St. Louis, MO, served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, and attended Washington University. He practiced Labor Law in St. Louis until 1983, at which time he became an Administrative Law Judge and Mediator with the U.S. Department of Labor where he was highly respected for his legal knowledge and mediation skills.
A resident of Diamondhead since 1988, Dick loved the Coast and its many activities, despite the fact that his beautiful home on the water was destroyed by Katrina. An optimistic person who chose to think ill of no one, Dick was much loved by family, friends, and colleagues.
He is survived by his wife, Irene Mills; his children, Peggy Wyland and her husband, Dan, Barbara Bergh and her husband, Jim, Richard Carroll, and Deanna Garvey; grandchildren, Allie, Liz, Hanna, Kacie, and Caroline; and a sister, Charlie Mills.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial donations to the Humane Society of South Mississippi, 2615 25th Ave, Gulfport, MS 39501.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Rd, Gulfport with a visitation from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM.
