Richard Gabel

Richard "Ricky" Joseph Gabel, a lifelong resident of the Gulf Coast, passed away on September 13, 2023, in Gulfport, Mississippi, at the age of 72. Ricky was born on January 27, 1951, in Mobile, Alabama.

Ricky attended Gulfport High School and later pursued a career as a merchant marine engineer at MEBA (Marine Engineers' Benefit Association). Beyond his professional life, Ricky had a passion for fishing.

Ricky was preceded in death by his daughter, Crystal Braddock; sisters Brenda, Donna Faye, and Martha; his brother Melvin Gabel; and his parents, Roy and Muriel Gabel.

He is survived by his loving spouse, Brenda Jo Shows Gabel; children, Heather Jordan and Ricky Johnson; six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He is also survived by his sisters, Dianne, Georgie, and Glenda.

Visitation to celebrate Ricky's life will be held on Sunday, September 17, 2023, from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at Riemann Family Funeral Home, located at 11280 Three Rivers Rd. Gulfport, MS 39503. A graveside service will take place on Monday, September 18, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
