Richard Garry Edgeworth

Richard Garry "Poppy" Edgeworth, age 62, gained his Heavenly wings after a battle with cancer on August 3, 2024, at home with family in Long Beach, MS. Richard was born January 29, 1962, to Norma and Alec Edgeworth in Lafayette, Georgia.

Richard's journey through life took him from Scottsboro, Alabama where he learned the masonry trade from his father to South Florida in the 1980s, and he lived there until his final move to Mississippi before Hurricane Katrina. Here he found his true home and cherished every moment there. Richard was known for his friendly and outgoing nature; he never met a stranger and made friends easily wherever he went. He will be missed by all.

Richard was preceded in death by both his parents, Norma and Alec Edgeworth, as well as his brother Andy Edgeworth. He is survived by his son Richard Garry Edgeworth II and daughter Andrea Edgeworth, both of Ohio. Additionally, Richard leaves behind his sister Beverly (Bob) Beauregard and brother Alec Dale Edgeworth (Perri), both of Florida.

He will be dearly missed by his nieces and nephews Jeremy, Jimmy, Abby, Alec, Brian, David, and Daniel. Richard is also survived by his life partner Marjorie Gale and her children and Poppy's kids: Nevaeh, Janiya, Daijiana, Oliver, Cooper, Xavier, Messiah, and baby Mi'Lan.  We love you Poppy.

In remembrance of Richard Garry Edgeworth's vibrant spirit and the joy he brought to those around him, may we celebrate his life with fond memories of the love he shared and the lives he touched. May he rest in peace.
