Richard Allen East, age 64, of Gulfport, Mississippi passed away July 28, 2024.

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Richard Alden East, lovingly known as Rick, a cherished son, brother, boyfriend, and friend, who left us on July 28, 2024. Rick is survived by his devoted parents, Leroy and Shirley East; his beloved brother, Keith East; sister-in-law Debbie East; and their children and grandchildren.

Rick's life was a testament to service, compassion, and integrity. He proudly served his country as a Navy corpsman, where he honed his skills in providing care and comfort to those in need. Following his military service, Rick continued his commitment to helping others by becoming an Emergency Medical Technician. His journey in healthcare led him to nursing school and his final role of Registered Nurse in the Emergency Services Department at Memorial Hospital Gulfport, where he dedicated himself to saving lives and bringing solace to countless patients and their families.

Known for his stoic demeanor, Rick was a gentle giant with a wonderful sense of humor, that was dry, sometimes dark but always very funny. He enjoyed cooking, music, and movies, and these passions brought joy to his life and those around him.

Rick's legacy is one of unwavering dedication, love, and resilience. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and the many lives he touched throughout his remarkable life.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Rick's life will be held on August 2, 2024, at 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Riemann Family Funeral Home in Gulfport.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to your favorite charity fighting to eradicate the destructive effects of cancer or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Rick's honor.

Rest in peace, Rick. Your spirit, love, and laughter will remain with us always.
