Richard Charles Willis, 73, of Diamondhead Mississippi entered into eternal life on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at Gulfport Memorial Hospital in Gulfport, MS.
He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on June 30, 1950, the son of the late Charles Edwin and Genevieve (Davis) Willis. He is survived by his partner and soulmate of 21 years, Wanda Sue Kinsley; his children, Jennifer Lynn (Gary) Abernathy and Charles Corey (Jamie) Willis; his sister, Joanna L. (Tom) Hebermehl; his brother, Bruce E. (Susi) Willis; his grandchildren, Adalee N. (Josh) Bouslog, Isla A. Willis, and Margot L. Willis; and his great-grandchildren, Brylee L., Zaylee N., Kipton L., and Kohlton L. Bouslog.
Mr. Willis was a 1968 graduate of Paris High School, where he lettered in basketball and golf. He graduated from Mississippi State University in 1972. He earned his Juris Doctorate from Mississippi College School of Law in 1978 and passed the Indiana Bar examination in 1979.
Mr. Willis enjoyed a successful and varied work life. During his college tenure, he was associated with Triangle School of Aviation, where he was a flight instructor and salesman. He later served as a corporate pilot. He was a title attorney (Landman) and licensed broker of offset wells for the oil and gas industry for several years. He owned a ReMax Realty Group franchise and was associated with Commercial Asset Management Group as an apartment manager and salesman. He also worked with fiber optic builds and was a regen acquisition supervisor.
A highly accomplished golfer, Mr. Willis was a lifelong member of the Diamondhead Mississippi Golf Community. He enjoyed fishing and boating, walks with Sue, and spending time with family.
The funeral will be held at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 9062 Kiln Delisle Rd, Pass Christian, Mississippi, on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation at the Church from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Riemann Funeral Home www.riemannfamily.com is assisting with the arrangements.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home, 303 E Wood St, Paris, IL, at 1:00 p.m. Their website is www.stewartandcarrollfuneralhome.com
