Richard J. Bingham, a cherished member of the Gulfport community, passed away on February 24, 2025, at the age of 80. He was born on March 18, 1944, in Alabama, and spent many years of his life dedicated to both his family and his country.

Richard had a distinguished military career, retiring as a Master Sergeant after 23 years with the U.S. Army. His service was marked by great honor; he was a proud recipient of the Purple Heart, symbolizing his bravery and sacrifice for our nation. After his retirement from military service, he continued to contribute to his community by dedicating 27 years of work at the Naval Construction Battalion Center in Gulfport, MS, where his commitment and hard work were deeply appreciated.

A longtime resident of Gulfport, Richard was a beloved figure among his neighbors and friends. He was known for his warmth, kindness, and unwavering support of those around him. His life was characterized by a profound sense of duty, love for his family, and loyalty to his country.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Sun Ae Bingham, who stood by his side throughout their journey together. He is also survived by his children: Stephen Franklin of Augusta, GA; Susan Yarbrough (David) of Augusta; GA, and Sherri Feider (Shawn) of Savannah, GA. Richard is remembered fondly by his sister, Linda Ford, and his brother, Cleveland Young, as well as his eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to his life.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard William Jackson, and his mother, Mary Bingham, who will be welcoming him with open arms.

Richard J. Bingham leaves behind a legacy of dedication, love, and service that will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, a testament to a life well-lived.  The family will plan a Celebration Gathering to be held at a later date.
