Rhonda Gail Welch Dickens, age 58 and a resident of Gulfport, died on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 in Houston, TX.
Mrs. Dickens was born on February 18, 1950 in Gulfport, to Ray and Opal Welch. She was a graduate of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, University of Southern Mississippi and William Carey University. Mrs. Dickens was a school teacher at Bayou View Elementary School in Gulfport for 25 years, and a longtime member of St. James Catholic Church in Gulfport.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ray L. Welch. Survivors include husband Elmer Dickens of Gulfport; her mother, Opal Heflin Welch of Gulfport; children, Matt Dickens of Hollywood, CA, Holly Dickens Ford (Scott) of Biloxi, and Marc Dickens of Gulfport; siblings, Brenda Van Court and Donald Welch both of Gulfport; her beloved dogs, Baby Girl, Kelley and Monti.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 21, 2008 from 6:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m. at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Rd., Gulfport. Funeral service will be held be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 22, 2008 at St. James Catholic Church, where friends may visit from 10: a.m.-11:00 a.m.. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Cemetery. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Humane Society of South MS, 2615 Hwy 49, Gulfport, MS 39501.
