Rene Joseph Duffour

Rene Joseph Duffour, age 84, resident of Diamondhead left this world to be with Our Lord October 7, 2011.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, June P. Duffour; loving father of Rennan J. Duffour (Liz) and Dr. Rory J. Duffour (Sherry); proud grandfather of Glynn Duffour (Jennifer), USN FC3 Jessica Duffour, Myra Duffour, and Winston Duffour; great grandfather of Katiana Duffour, Joshua Duffour, and Evan Duffour; brothers, Norman A. and Sidney A. Duffour; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney E. and Norma S. Duffour.
Renee was a native of New Orleans and a resident of Diamondhead, MS for the last 22 years.
He was a graduate of St. Aloysius High School and attended Tulane University. Rene served in the U.S. Navy. He worked in Public Relations in Newspapers and Radio, most recently as managing editor and columnist for the Diamondhead News.
Rene was active for many years as Master of Ceremonies for various Carnival Balls and Parades in New Orleans and Diamondhead.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, 3rd Slidell Council 2732 and the 4th Degree Fr. Timothy Pugh Assembly 1635. He held various offices in the Knights of Columbus and was an active member for the past 65 years.
A visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday, October 11, 2011 from 9:00 am until 12 noon, with a Rosary at 10:00 am at Annunciation Catholic Church (the new Church), 5370 Kiln Delisle Road, Kiln, MS. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 noon immediately following the visitation.
