Reginald John Hover

Reginald John Hover, Jr., age 80, a resident of Long Beach, died July 3rd in Gulfport. Mr. Hover was born and raised in Handsboro, MS. He graduated from Gulfport High School and attended the University of Southern Mississippi. He served his country in the U.S. Army as a medic at the 14th Field Hospital during the Korean War. Mr. Hover retired from Gulfport Memorial Hospital as the Credit and Collections Manager.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Long Beach, the Long Beach Masonic Lodge # 500 and the Long Beach American Legion. Mr. Hover was a former member of the FUMCLB Board of Trustees, Memorial Hospital Credit Union Board, Long Beach Yacht Club Board of Directors and a member of Bells and Buoys Mardi Gras Krewe. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and volunteering at the Long Beach Food Pantry.
Mr. Hover was preceded in death by his parents, Reginald & Elsie Hover; his wife of 56 years, Sue Hover; sister, Peggy Johnson; nephew, Johnny Johnson and niece, Cathy Stone.
Mr. Hover is survived by his son, Mike (Terri) Hover of Mt. Pleasant, SC; daughter, Lisa (Greg) Russell & grandson, Tyler Russell of Long Beach, two nephews and a niece.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2011, at 11:00am at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 19130 Commission Road in Long Beach, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Gulf Pines Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff at Dixie White House Nursing Facility for their wonderful care.
