Reece Bentz, Sr.

Reece Claude Bentz, Sr., age 75, of Pass Christian, passed away on June 26, 2021, in Pass Christian.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Francis Bentz and Helen McDonald Bentz; and a sister, Patricia Bentz Kirk.

Mr. Bentz is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Kathryn DeBord Bentz; his children, his children, Adriane Bentz Matsenbaugh (Gary), Reece C. Bentz, Jr., and Chadwick R. Bentz (Julie; his siblings, Rose Bentz Bellipanni, Fred Bentz (Rita), Gaynell Bentz Schruff (McCall), Dian Bentz Bradley (Jimmy), Pearl Bentz Benigno (Jimmy), Beth Bentz Maldonado, Beverly Bentz Ridgeway (Roger), Katherine Bentz Mallini (Tommy), Robert Bentz (Shelly), and Donny Bentz; his grandchildren, Grace and Maxwell Matsenbaugh, Anna Marie and Madison Bentz, and Lillieann, Madilynn, and Chadwick Bentz, Jr; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.

Reece was a native and lifelong resident of Pass Christian where he was a graduate of Pass Christian High School and attended Jeff Davis Junior College. He was in the wholesale building business for over 40 years. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participate in sporting events and church activities.

Reece loved his faith and family. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and was a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and the Pass Christian Yacht Club.

The family would like to thank his sitters: Misty Simmons, Mary Lett, and Alberta Laneaux for their respectful and loving care during his long battle with brain cancer. They also appreciate Dr. Allison Wall for her loving care, Tracy Ladner and Kare in Home staff for their care and Fr. Paddy Mockler and Fr. Cuddy O'Connell for their ministry and support.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be made to Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church Building Fund, 9062 Kiln DeLisle Rd., Pass Christian, MS 39571.

A visitation will be on Wednesday, Wednesday, June 30, 2021, from 10 - 11 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 720 E Beach Blvd, Long Beach. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am in the church. Interment will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Pass Christian.
