Raymond Conn Weaver, 80, of Gulfport passed away at his home on Sunday June 28, 2009.
Ray was born May 19, 1929 son of the late William D. aÌ‚â‚Å“Buckâ₝ Weaver and Omenia Conn Weaver at Gulfport, MS.
Ray is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Clara Anne Carr Weaver; his daughter Rae Anne Ryan (Phil); sons Glenn E. Weaver (Cerelda), James W. Weaver (Tanya), and Raymond C. Weaver, Jr. (Tracy) of Nashville, TN; grandchildren Perri McKinnon (Denis) of Pensacola, Anna Schwartz (Jon) of Ocean Springs, Paige Heitzmann (Jason), Philip Ryan III (Amy) of Jackson, James Weaver, Natalie Weaver, and Braydon and Connor Weaver of Nashville; great grandchildren Denny and Lauren McKinnon of Pensacola, Alexis and Candace Schwartz of Ocean Springs, and Patrick Ryan of Jackson; brother, William D. aÌ‚â‚Å“Billâ₝ Weaver; and sister, Annie Louise Harms of Ulysses, KS.
Ray graduated from Gulfport High School in 1946 and began his career as an outside salesman and air conditioning designer with Paine Supply Company of Gulfport, MS. He left Paine in 1956 and joined his fatheraÌ‚â‚â„¢s mechanical contracting firm Weaver and Sons, Inc. founded that year. Ray started his firm, Ray C. Weaver Mechanical Contractors, Inc. in 1974. Ray retired his position as President and became Chairman in 1991.
Throughout his career Ray developed and held in high regard his contacts and friendships with customers, architects, engineers, contractors, wholesalers, and manufacturersaÌ‚â‚â„¢ representatives. Ray served his profession in numerous capacities such as member of City of Gulfport and the Harrison County Plumbing and Mechanical Licensing and Examining Boards, founder and trustee of Local Union 568 Plumbers and Pipefitters Health and Welfare Plan. He held all offices regarding management and was trustee of the local contractors association. Ray was past president of the Mississippi Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling Contractors Association (PHCC), District Director of the National PHCC, and Management Appointee to the National Industrial Relations Council.
Ray was a member of the Gulfport Rotary International Club and was a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church since 1963, where he served on the Board of Trustees, Administrative Board, and Sunday School Superintendent.
The family would like to express their appreciation to all of our health care professionals and especially Odyssey Health Care (Hospice) for their truly loving and understanding assistance.
A celebration of his life will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church, 5007 Lawson Avenue, Gulfport, MS on Thursday July 2, 2009 where friends and family may visit from 11:00 A.M. until service at 1:00 P.M. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
The family prefers memorials to Trinity United Methodist Church or the charity of your choice.
