Raymond McGinty

AT1 Raymond Thomas McGinty, U.S. Navy, Ret, age 83, of Gulfport, passed away on April 29, 2022.

Mr. McGinty was preceded in death by a son, Kevin McGinty; a daughter, Karen Lewis; his father, Fredrick McGinty; and his mother, Hazel McGinty.

Mr. McGinty is survived by his children, Christine McGinty (Pat Sparr) of Norfolk, VA, Kelli Summers (Robert) of Bartlett, TN, and Robert McGinty (Tina) of Gulfport, MS; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.

Mr. McGinty was a native of Long Branch, NJ and was a current resident of the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Gulfport.  He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and his last assignment was aboard the USS Guam (LPH 93) before retiring after 22 years of service.  While in the Navy, he received the Good Conduct Award (6th), the National Defense Service Medal, the Air Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and the Navy Unit Commendation Medal.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Armed Forces Retirement Home and the staff of Hospice of Light for their care and concern for Mr. McGinty.

A private interment will be held in the Biloxi National Cemetery.
