Raymond Guthrie

Raymond Harold Guthrie, 88, of Gulfport, MS, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2020, at Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. Raymond was born September 15, 1931 to Wallace Sr. and Anita Guthrie in New Orleans, LA.

Raymond served in the Army and in later years went on to be Captain of a crew boat where he retired as a radio operator with the Port Ship Service in Belle Chasse, LA. He loved to travel and spend time with his family. In his spare time, he enjoyed painting ceramics, visiting the casino or grabbing a good buffet.

He is predeceased by his parents, Wallace Sr. and Anita Guthrie; wife, Sybil Guthrie; brother, Wallace Guthrie Jr.; brother, Gerald Guthrie; sister, Mildred Goodman; daughter, Shirley Guthrie; and grandson, David Saucier.

Raymond is survived by his sister, Rosalie Lyons; daughters, Cathy Hebert, Linda Hubbard, Terri Hulsey;  son, Kenny Guthrie; granddaughters, Torita Guthrie, Jenny Fortgens, Heidi Coutler, Crystal Guthrie, Hunter Hebert, Hannah Hulsey; grandsons, Dennis Saucier, Charlie Rowley Jr., Casey Rowley, Brandon Hulsey, Barron Hebert Jr., and Cameron Hulsey. In addition, Raymond had 13 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, February 1, 2020, at Riemann Funeral Home in Gulfport, MS, with a visitation for family and friends, from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Pastor Andrew Lombardo will officiate.
