Raymond Cook, Jr., passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2025, in Gulfport, Mississippi at the age of 72. Born on April 29, 1952, in Mobile, Alabama, Raymond was raised in a close-knit community that shaped his values and character throughout his life. He was a long-time resident of Gulfport, where he made lasting contributions to both his profession and his community.

Raymond dedicated many years to his work as a mechanic, where his skills and expertise were well-regarded by coworkers and customers alike. His commitment to his craft ensured that he left behind a legacy of hard work and integrity.

A proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, Raymond served during the Vietnam War, demonstrating remarkable courage and a deep sense of duty. His military service instilled in him a profound respect for the values of honor and sacrifice, which he carried with him throughout his life.

Raymond's interests extended beyond his professional achievements; he found great joy in the great outdoors. He had a passion for hunting and fishing, often spending his free time in nature, where he cherished moments of tranquility and adventure. Raymond was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Linda Ann Cook of Gulfport; his son, Richard Thomas Cook of Gulf Shores, Alabama; and his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ben Savage, Betty Jo Ladnier (Sonny), Teresa Andrews (Jeff), David Savage (Ruby), Rachel Watson, Eva Savage, Vicky Savage and Kathy Savage; and by numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family members and friends. Their memories of Raymond will forever be cherished in their hearts.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Ruth Cook; his sister; and three brothers-in-law, Howard Lee Savage, Larry Dean Savage and Robert Ray Savage . As his family reflects upon the life of a man who was both a dedicated family member and respected community member, his legacy will undoubtedly live on in the stories shared and the memories created over the years.
