Randy Dean Lewis, a beloved father and ‘Paw Paw’, passed away unexpectedly at home on January 21, 2025, at the age of 60. Born on July 18, 1964, in Southport, NC, Randy brought joy and warmth to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He was a proud graduate of the West Brunswick High School Class of 1981, a place that served as the beginning of his journey through life.
Randy dedicated a significant part of his professional life to Bollinger Shipyards/VT Halter, where he was employed since 2008. His remarkable work ethic and commitment to excellence reflected his values and upbringing. Prior to his career in the shipbuilding industry, Randy served in the United States Air Force from 1980 to 1990, where he honed his skills in engineering and installation—a testament to his dedication to service and duty.
Randy’s pride and joy were unmistakably his grandchildren, River Lewis and Theodore Lewis. As a devoted grandfather, he cherished every moment spent with them, offering his love, guidance, and endless support. His heart swelled with happiness during their time together, firmly embracing the role of ‘Paw Paw’ that he held dear.
In his leisure time, Randy indulged in his interests that brought him relaxation and joy. He was an avid reader, and enjoyed playing video games that sparked his imagination. His love for storytelling was also evident in his enjoyment of iconic films, including Star Wars and Marvel movies, which he often shared with family and friends.
Randy leaves behind his son, Ceann (Jamie) Lewis, who carries forward his legacy of kindness and strength. He is also remembered fondly by his cousins, Brent (Robin) Varnam, and his aunts, Beth Lewis and Faye Lewis. His father, Issac Vernon Lewis, and his mother, Judy Carol Varnam Lewis, have preceded him in death, creating a stark penumbra of loss for those who loved him.
Randy's memory will forever remain painted in vibrant colors on the canvas of our hearts, as those who loved him cherish the impact he had on their lives. His spirit will continue to live through the stories recounted, the laughter shared, and the immeasurable love he bestowed upon his family.
Per his wishes cremation rites will be accorded.
