Ramona Hopstein

December 7, 1958 — February 15, 2021

Gulfport

Ramona "Mona" Gail Hopstein, age 62 of Gulfport, passed away on Monday, February 15, 2021.

Mona was a native of Mississippi and a 1976 Graduate of Gulfport High School. She was employed with Gulfport City Schools, Gulfport, Mississippi from 1976 until her retirement October 2015. She held multiple positions over her 39 years with the District, well known and loved deeply by her coworkers.

There are far too many items to list from a 39 year career, we would like to highlight her greatest achievement in that Mona was a single mother who worked hard at multiple jobs to do what was needed to raise her son, Eli. In our society being a single mother and sole provider is the most difficult thing to do and she was amazing at doing this. She has much to be proud of.

She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Harold Hopstein, Sr., and both sets of grandparents.

She is survived by her mother,Yvonne Taylor (Jimmie); her son, Eli Andrew Stallworth; her siblings, Catherine Crilly (John), Tammy Hopstein (Tanya),
Erica Hopstein, Joseph Hopstein, Jr (Michelle); Nieces and Nephews, Larkin Crilly, Katherine Wright, Justin Wright, Joseph Hopstein, III, Victoria Hopstein, and Jackson Hopstein; and her stepmother, Elizabeth Hopstein.

Mona's passion was to see as much of the world as she could. It was the single most thing she loved, whether it was a 6-week trip to travel throughout Europe or the beaches here along the Gulf Coast of Mississippi, Alabama or Florida. Her last trip was to Denver, Colorado, where she got to the see the beauty of the mountains. In addition to travel, she loved paint and color by number creating beautiful pictures to hang in her home or give away. She loved being outside working in the yard and loving her dog, Koupa. She loved to take him for rides in the car just around the block each day she could.

Mona was one of Jehovah's Witnesses and after her retirement, she devoted all the time she was able to by sharing her faith in her God, Jehovah.

Mona would want all of her copious friends and family to know how much she loved them and would do anything she was capable of for them. Everyone will miss her texting and telephoning as she strived to stay in touch with as many as she could, face it she loved to talk.

We are in hard times, so those of you that would send flowers, please consider how much Mona loved the district and it would make her smile if instead you were able to make a donation whether it be monetary, a book bag, paper, other basic supplies needed by our teachers to educate our children.

Mona's memorial service will be held on Zoom at 1:00 PM, on Saturday, February 27, 2021, She chose this to keep all from Covid issues we are facing right now. If you would like to listen here is the information you will need: Zoom 374-345-6642, when prompted the password is 2288310912.
