On Wednesday, September 24, 2008, Mr. Ralph Edwin Rishel left us to be with his beloved wife, Mary Saucier Rishel, who predeceased him.
Ralph was born on Friday, February 13, 1916 in Long Beach, Mississippi to Joseph and Emma Allen Rishel. After marrying in 1936, Ralph and Mary built a home in Long Beach and were devoted to each other and to raising their three daughters: Mary Ann Spencer, Louise Ray, and Deborah Hester, all of whom reside in Long Beach.
Mr. Ralph Rishel was preceded in death by his siblings: Horace Rishel, Glen Rishel, Laurence Rishel, Harry Rishel, Myrtle Rutledge, infant twin siblings; his grandson, Brodie Ray; and his son in law, John Spencer.
Mr. Rishel is survived by his daughters; his sister, Ruby Rogers, of Pascagoula, MS; his brother, George Rishel, of Long Beach, MS; and his son in laws, Buddy Ray and Mike Hester.
Mr. Rishel was a revered """"Paw-Paw"""" to surviving grandchildren: Christal Spencer Dessommes, Bo Ray, Brad Ray, Micah Hester, Mason Hester, and Miles Hester. Mr. Rishel treasured the time he had with his great-grandchildren: Shelby Dessommes, Katherine Ray, Preston Ray, Logan Ray, and Turner Ray.
Mr. Rishel was affectionately known as """"Paw-Paw"""" to many neighbors and """"Uncle Ralph"""" to numerous nieces and nephews. Every night, Mr. Rishel gave thanks to God for the visits, 'Hellos', and smiles of his many friends and acquaintainces.
Mr. Rishel served his country in Guam. He was a master carpenter and retired as Job Foreman from Roy Anderson Jr, Inc. Mr. Rishel enjoyed fishing, hunting, skeet shooting, and gardening. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Long Beach.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2008, at 1:00 pm at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 19130 Commission Road in Long Beach, where friends may visit from 11:30 AM until service time. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. For more information, please call (228)539-9800.
