Rachel Erlyne (nee Ford) Cantrell, known to all as 'Erlyne' or 'Granny', a mother, grandmother, sister, and registered nurse, passed away on November 6, 2023, at the age of 91.
Erlyne's life was filled with love and laughter. Her passing leaves a void in the hearts.
Born on January 19, 1932, in Moss Point, MS, Erlyne was the daughter of William Henry and Lucy (nee Wimbish) Ford.
Twin brother, Richard Eugene Ford and three other brothers: William Henry Ford Jr., Lewis Edward Ford, and Clarence Harold Ford preceded her in death.
Early in her professional life, Erlyne worked as a legal secretary. Despite the challenges that came with returning to school at the age of 50, Erlyne earned her nursing degree. Her commitment to lifelong learning is an inspiration to all.
Outside of her professional life, she found immense joy in spending time with her loved ones. When her husband Felix 'Wil' Cantrell was still alive, they enjoyed participating in church group trips as an opportunity to deepen their faith and create lasting connections within their community.
Erlyne's (Granny) greatest treasure was undoubtedly her grandchildren. Their laughter and their accomplishments brought her immense pride and joy.
Erlyne leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness. She is survived by her children Ross (Rocky) Broome, Beck (Don) Thomas, and James (Marcia) Broome. Granny also leaves behind cherished memories for her grandchildren Bart (Jenny) Broome, Kris Herbert, Craig (Michele) Broome, and Camille (Ponder) Broome and 11 great-grandchildren. She shared a special bond and is survived by her sisters Mary (Harlan) Altafer and Voncile (Norman) Stokes.
Granny Erlyne's memory will forever live in our hearts.
