Quirine Kellner Morton, 92, of Biloxi, MS, died Sunday, May 18, 2008, in Biloxi.
The Sheboygan, WI, native was a member of Nativity BVM Cathedral Parish, Biloxi. She belonged to the local chapter of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, and she was a volunteer for United Way of South Mississippi.
After working for a year in Sao Paulo, Brazil, the Mortons moved to Biloxi in 1949, where Mr. Morton became a Civil Service technical instructor at Keesler AFB. For years Mrs. Morton was a homemaker, enjoying gardening and sewing. She began a career at mid-life as a secretary and bookkeeper at American Linen Supply, Gulfport. After retirement, she lived for several years in her home state where she became an avid golfer. She returned to the Mississippi Coast in 1989 to be near her daughter and grandchildren.
Mrs. Morton is predeceased by her husband Thomas Abraham Morton, Gulfport, MS, her parents Edmund J. and Celia Kellner and brothers Karl Kellner and James J. Kellner, all of Sheboygan.
She is survived by her sister Judith M. aÌâÅJudyaÌâ Kellner, Newton, WI, and daughter Mary (Ben) Wimberly, Biloxi; grandchildren, Merritt (Thomas) Shaw, Mobile, AL; Christopher (Laura) Collins, Jackson, MS; Thomas Wimberly, Biloxi; and great grandchildren, Michael, Sean and Lillian Collins, Jackson. She is also survived by nephews Dan (Jen) Kellner, Elkhart Lake, WI, and Thomas Kellner, Spring Lake, FL.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, May 22, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Nativity BVM Cathedral where friends may visit two hours before service time. Interment will follow at Southern Memorial Park, Biloxi.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN), P. O. Box 8562, Biloxi, MS 39535. IHN provides transitional housing and services for homeless families with children. Arrangements are by RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, Biloxi.
