Polly Council

Polly Ann Baughman Council, age 94 of Ocean Springs, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 7, 2021. She was born on September 26, 1926 in El Reno, Oklahoma to B.G. and Emma Baughman.

She was preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, Henry J. Council.

Polly is survived by her children, Linda Susan Council Roberts (Will); her children, Linda Susan Council Roberts (Will) of Pensacola, FL, and Michael "Mike" Council (LaDeana) of Hurley; her grandchildren, Michael "Scott" Council (Angie), Matthew Council (Danielle); step grandsons, Jeremy Shepherd (Hillery) and Weston Shepherd; her great grandchildren, Taylor, Ashley, Jake, and Ryan; and her step great grandchildren, Reese, Jude, Scarlett, Jamison; and her great great granddaughter, Sadie Grace.

She gave selflessly to many causes near and dear to her heart including Brownie and Girl Scout leader. Mrs. Polly was active in Eastern Stars for over 40 years, serving in many positions including Worthy Matron, Mother Advisor for Gulfport chapter of the International Order of the Rainbow for girls, Masonic Youth Service Organization. She volunteered thousands of hours at the Veterans Administration as a pharmacy assistant and served as a State Grand jurist in Jackson, MS.

Polly traveled extensively around the world and later became a tour guide.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to a local animal shelter in Polly's name.

A visitation will be held from 5:30 PM until 7:00 PM, Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport.
