Phyllis VanSchoonhoven, age 74 and a resident of Gulfport, died on Monday, October 27, 2008, in Gulfport.
Mrs. VanSchoonhoven was a native of Dublin, Ireland and had been a resident of Gulfport for the past 20 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Gulfport and participated in numerous charity organizations.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Elizabeth Cully; her adopted mother, Nellie Steadman; her brothers, Seamus Cully, Pat Cully, and Francis Cully and her sisters, Mary McGrail, and Lilly Flood.
Mrs. VanSchoonhoven is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Rick VanSchoonhoven of Gulfport; her daughter, Susan Gurley of Martinez, GA; her son, Patrick (Cindy) VanSchoonhoven of Martinez, GA; her grandchildren, Addison (Cylie), Chris, Katie, Savannah, and Bianca and her great grandson, John Dylan; loving friends and other family members in Ireland.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Gulfport, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made to St. Vincent dePaul, 366 Cowan Road, Gulfport, MS 39507.
