Philip Arthur Rosen, age 86, of Diamondhead, MS, passed away on Friday Oct 15, 2021, in Bay St Louis, MS
He was preceded in death by: Hyman Rosen (father), Rose Gaiz Rosen (mother), Sarah Rosen Bergeron (sister), Martha Rosen Vellano (sister), Ida Rosen Polka (sister), Alice Rosen (sister), Harvey Rosen (brother), Cindy Lou Rosen (daughter), Nathan Finkelstein (father-in-law), Matilda Gold Finkelstein (mother-in-law), Marian Finkelstein Goldberg (sister-in-law), Lawrence Goldberg (brother-in-law), and Ellen Yancey Rosen (daughter-in-law).
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Devorah Finkelstein Rosen; his children & spouses: Maury Rosen, Melanie Allio (Vincent Allio), Lee Sevier (Tricia Khan – Walker-Sevier), Terri Jones (Jack Jones), and Holly Martin (Richard Martin); his grandchildren: Mitchell Rosen (Crystal), Matthew Rosen (Mary), William Yancey, Heidi Klein, Alicia Cook (Andrew), Brandon Valent, Stephanie Kachmar (Jacob), Kylie Valent, Taylor Rito (Jay), Jake Sevier (Katlin Austin), Kayla Frichter (Ian), Korben Walker, Truman Rogers, Shaina Dunkley (Jerrett), Shelby Boblick (John Thomas Gilmore), Christian Blake Jones, Harley Jones, and Sadie Martin; and his great-grandchildren: Benjamin Rosen, Evan Rosen, Ava Rosen, Jacob Rosen, Makayla Rosen, Caleb Rosen, Elianna Cook, Hunter Cook, Laina Dunkley, Jerrett Steven Dunkley, Floyd Hawk Dunkley, Madison Rose Gilmore, Bayn Frichter, and John Thomas “JT” Gilmore.
Mr. Rosen was a native of Cortland, NY and had been a longtime resident of Diamondhead, MS. He was a 1953 graduate of Cortland High School and later served in the Army National Guard as a Sergeant E5 from August 1955 to May 1962. Philip began his career working with his father in the Rosen Bros. scrap business. He became partner and then owner of the business until 1985. A man ahead of his time, he dabbled in demolition, fabrication of new and used steel, waste management, and recycling of all used materials. In 1986, Philip ventured South and became General Manager of Southern Scrap of New Orleans. One year later, he again opened his own business in Slidell, LA, Southern All Metals Recycling, Inc. He then expanded the business into Waveland, MS and years later into Gulfport, MS where known as SAM. He retired in 2016.
He was an antique car collector and he was an old movie fanatic, enjoyed attending flea markets, swap meets, and auctions. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge – Master Mason for life and for two years, he was Vice President of Temple Brith Shalom in Cortland, NY. He was also a member of the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industry.
The family would like to say Thank you to Deaconess Hospice providers, Right at Home care givers, Bay St Louis Medical Center Staff, and all of his providers through the Biloxi VA system.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 18, 2021, at 2 pm in Southern Memorial Park Cemetery, Biloxi, MS.
