Philip P. Pepper, Sr., formerly of Pass Christian and currently of Long Beach, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2009, in Gulfport.
Mr. Pepper was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, having served during the Korean War, and was a Disabled American veteran since 1952. After receiving his Masters Degree at UCLA, he served for 32 years of public health service for the federal government. After retirement, he owned and operated Discovery Bay Marina in Pass Christian. Mr. Pepper was past president of the Bayou Chapter of the Paralyzed Veterans of American and past vice president of the National Paralyzed Veterans of America, Washington, DC.
Mr. Pepper was preceded in death by his parents, Henry L. Pepper and Mary P. Pepper.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Katharyn R. Pepper, of Long Beach; his children, Denise Foster of Vista, CA, Teri Hanners of San Antonio, TX, Penny E. Dorries of Yuma, AZ, Kathy L. Bowser of Mesa, AZ, Jackson W. Waldrip of Pass Christian, and Philip P. Pepper, Jr. of Pascagoula; his brother, Henry Louis Pepper, of LaRose, LA; and much loved numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A visitation was held on Thursday, August 27, 2009, from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Rd., Long Beach.
A graveside service followed at 11:00AM at Biloxi National Cemetery.
The family prefers donations to be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, 1600 E. Woodrow Wilson Ave., Jackson, MS 39216.
