Philip began farming in the 1930's as his lifelong love and occupation. He would travel the coastline selling his vegetables; corn, potatoes, sugar cane, tomatoes, etc. Someone once told Philip that there should be a law against growing so many sweet potatoes. He made cane syrup, using horses to turn the grinder. Philip also raised livestock and poultry.
Anyone that had the pleasure of visiting with Philip would have the opportunity of listening to his wonderful historical stories of the coast. Philip has often been referred to as the """"Mayor of Landon Road"""".
