Peter "Mary Josephine" Tallon

Sr. Peter ""Mary Josephine"" Tallon, PBVM, age 94, passed into eternal life on December 14, 2011 at the Convent of Mercy in Mobile, AL.
She was born October 18, 1917 in Wexford, Ireland, and she entered the Presentation Convent in Wexford on January 2, 1936 and made her Profession of Vows on September 8, 1938. Sr. Peter came to Mississippi on August 19, 1961 and she served in the field of education in Enniscorthy and Hospital, Ireland, St. John, Gulfport, Our Lady of Fatima, Biloxi, St. Patrick, Robertsdale, AL, and Long Beach, MS until her retirement. Sr. Peter spent the last 10 years of her life in the loving care of the Sisters of Mercy in Mobile, AL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Annie and James Tallon, a sister, Sr. Carmel, PBVM, and 2 brothers, Matt and Alfie.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, cousins, and her loving community of Presentation Sisters, especially the local community in Long Beach.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon Friday, December 16, 2011 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Gulfport. Visitation will be from 10 am until 12 noon.
Interment will be in Gulf Pines Memorial Gardens.
