Pete Castiglia, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, February 21, 2009.
Mr. Castiglia was a lifelong resident of Gulfport. He was born on February 6, 1928, and was raised on a truck farm, formerly located at the intersection of U.S. Highway 49 and Interstate 10, known as the Castiglia Interchange. Mr. Castiglia graduated from St. John Catholic High School in Gulfport. He was later drafted, and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Upon returning to Gulfport, Mr. Castiglia worked at Fayard's Moving and Storage as a long-haul truck driver for 48 years. He was a former member of Woolmarket Baptist Church.
Mr. Castiglia is preceded in death by his parents, Vincent, Sr. & Lena Bell Castiglia; two brothers, Vincent Castiglia, Jr., and Frank Castiglia and two sisters, Geneva Morrow and Rose Marie Smith.
He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Mary Alice Castiglia; his daughter, Andra (Richard) Codding; his son, Mike (Karen) Castiglia, all of Gulfport; his brother, Joseph Castiglia of Long Beach; and three grandchildren, Kelly Crain Griffin, Nick Castiglia, and Neil Castiglia, all of Gulfport.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2009, at 12' Noon at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road in Gulfport, where friends may visit two hours prior to the service. Entombment will follow at Floral Hills Cemetery.
