Penelope "Penny" Keesler Bruce, 73, of Gulfport, MS, passed away peacefully at home with her loving family at her side, on Saturday, August 4, 2018.
Penny was born January 19, 1945, in Lakewood, WI. She was a devoted Seabee wife to her adoring husband Curtis for over 50 years. A loving mother to her two sons, she served as both mother and father during many long deployments. She worked the better part of 10 years at the Keesler Commissary, enjoyed Friday nights at the casinos and baking goodies for her grandchildren, neighbors, and caregivers. She loved her pets, especially the rescued dogs from the Humane Society and the stray cats she adopted.
Penny is survived by her husband, Curtis Bruce; sons, Bill (Tammy) Bruce and Dale (Mary) Bruce; grandchildren, Trey Bruce, Tanner Bruce, Chloe Bruce and Aimeé Sims; sister, Nadine Kriegel; brothers, Butch Keesler and Junior Keesler. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd Keesler and Hilda Petrusky Keesler; grandparents, Adolf Arndt and Myrtle Arndt; and brothers, Jim Keesler, Ernie Keesler and Francis Keesler.
In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Humane Society of South Mississippi (www.hssm.org).
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 7th from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Road, Biloxi, MS 39531. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Interment will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Biloxi National Cemetery.
