Patsey Womble Hadaway, lovingly known as "Mimi," departed this earthly realm on September 6, 2024, in her daughter's home in Bay Saint Louis, MS. Born on May 8, 1944, in Bay Springs, MS, Patsey graced the world with her presence for over eight decades, leading a life marked by unwavering devotion, remarkable service, and an exceptional work ethic as a longtime office manager and administrator.
Patsey’s career shone as brightly as her spirit, characterized by her dedication and tenacity. She was not merely an employee; she was a stalwart pillar of support to those around her, embodying the very essence of commitment in every endeavor she undertook.
A devoted follower of the Lord, Patsey's faith guided her actions and shaped her relationships. She imparted her knowledge and love for God through teaching catechism and serving as a eucharistic minister, influencing countless lives along her spiritual journey. Her life was a testament to her love for family, her church community, and her friends. As a proud member of the VFW, she embodied the spirit of service, extending her compassion and strength to those who fought for our freedom.
Patsey leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory. She is survived by her son, Butch (Sue) Bassett; her daughter, Belinda (Ricky) Winchester Fayard; and her son, Robert "Bobby" Winchester. Her legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren: Chelsea Simmons, John Darren Simmons, Sarah (Nick) Garner Simmons, Brianna Bassett, Hannah Winchester, Hayden Winchester, Butch Bassett, Tony Waltman, Raymond Waltman, Candace Fayard, and Gavin Fayard. The light of her guidance shines on as she is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Ashlyn, Amila, Aniston, Braden, Owen, Ella, Kay, and Sue Fayard, and Kayligh Fayard. Amongst her surviving family is her sister, Frankie Robertson.
Patsey's heart now joins those of loved ones who have gone before her, including her first husband, Gerald Winchester; her second husband, Charles Hadaway; her parents, W.W. and Odessa Womble; brothers Sammy, Marlon, James, Melvin, Milton, and Norman Womble; sisters Ruth Johnson, Katie Jewel Jenkins, Nan Graham, and Shari Jernigan.
Patsey Womble Hadaway's journey through life was adorned with love, service, and faith; her unwavering spirit will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy is etched in the hearts of many, a beacon of love and light that will endure across generations.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, from 12:00/Noon until the time of funeral services at 1:00 PM, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach, MS 39560.
