Patricia Poe Tilley passed away peacefully on March 24, 2025. She was 90 years young.
Pat was born in Indianola, Mississippi, on February 14, 1935, to parents Itell and Thomas Glenn Poe. Following her high school graduation, she pursued higher education at the Mississippi College for Women in Columbus, Mississippi, where she was an active member of the Silhouette Social Club. Pat earned a degree in home economics and subsequently married Victor V. Tilley Jr. on May 31, 1956.
She was a member of Trinity Methodist Church for 60 years and actively engaged in her community. She served as past-president and queen of The Merry Maskers and was also a dedicated member of the Gulfport Yacht Club, Heritage Antique Club, Four Seasons Garden Club, and Bayou View Garden Club. Pat had a lively personality, a sharp sense of humor, and she was never one to miss a celebration. She loved her family, her garden, and the Ole Miss Rebels.
Pat is preceded in death by her parents, Itell Phillips Poe and Thomas Glenn Poe; her husband, Victor V. Tilley Jr.; and her brothers, Glenn Edward Poe and William "Billy" Ernest Poe.
She is survived by her children Becky Tilley Hopkins (George III) of Gulfport, Mississippi, and Gary Paul Tilley (Deanna) of Wimberley, Texas; her sister Martha Poe Mitcham; five grandchildren, George Pearce Hopkins IV (Mallory), Patricia Hopkins Monroe (Shane), Blake Goss Hopkins (Paige), Cody Paul Tilley, and Victor Cassidy Tilley; nine great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and cherished friends, all of whom loved her dearly.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please support the ministries of Trinity Methodist Church.
